The White House is pushing back after a report from The Washington Post about President Trump’s remarks in a closed-door meeting about immigration with a group of senators.
“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Trump allegedly said, when talking about immigrants from places like Haiti and countries in Africa.
.@NBCNews source: As Durbin explained how deal would impact ppl from Haiti, Trump said, “Haiti? Why do we want people from Haiti here?” Then they got Africa. ‘Why do we want these people from all these shithole countries here? We should have more people from places like Norway.”

Trump reportedly suggested that the U.S. bring in more immigrants from countries like Norway.
The reported comments came on the heels of the Norwegian Prime Minister visiting the White House.
“Certain Washington politicians choose to fight for foreign countries, but President Trump will always fight for the American people,” a White House spokesman said in response to the report.
The New York Times reported in December that the president once suggested that Haitian immigrants “all have AIDS,” and that Nigerian immigrants would never “go back to their huts” if given the ability to come to the U.S.
The allegations come amid bipartisan talks on a DACA fix and border security measures.
